Stucynski increases her American record in pole vault by an inch

Jenn Stuczynski broke her own American record, clearing 16-1 3/4 to win the women’s pole vault by more than a foot.

Stuczynski increased her record by one inch over her clearance on May 18 this year.

April Steiner Bennett was second at 15-1, with Erica Bartolina third at 14-11.

Three-time defending Trials champion and 2000 Olympic gold-medalist Stacy Dragila tied for seventh, clearing 14-5 1/4.

• Sunday’s attendance of 21,176 completed an eight-for-eight sessions of sellouts. Total attendance for the eight days of competition: 167,123.
