Gay: Severe cramp of left hamstring

World-champion Tyson Gay is recovering in his hotel room, being treated by his physiotherapist, after falling to the track during quarterfinals of the 200-meter dash. There is no other apparent damage.

Susan Hazzard, associate director of communications for U.S.A. Track & Field (by way of the University of Kentucky), relayed the report from Gay’s agent, Mark Wetmore.

Gay, out of Lafayette High School in Lexington, said he felt a little bit of tightness during his warmup.

“I’m very disappointed,” he said via the relayed report.
